Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing designs

What is a machine embroidery design?

A machine embroidery design is a digital file containing stitch instructions for an embroidery machine. It controls where stitches are placed and can include commands for color changes and other operations. It is different from a JPG, PNG, or hand embroidery pattern.

Will I receive a physical product?

No. Our design listings are digital downloads. You receive embroidery files, not a stitched garment, patch, printed pattern, or embroidery machine. Check the product listing for the files included.

What is the difference between a premade design and custom digitizing?

A premade design is existing artwork available to download in the formats and sizes listed. Custom digitizing creates an embroidery file from artwork you supply. Send your logo or image through our quote form if you need a design made for your own project.

Which embroidery file formats are available?

Depending on the design, downloads can include PES, DST, JEF, EXP, HUS, VIP, XXX, and other formats. Check the individual listing for the exact files supplied. If your format is not listed, contact us before buying.

Will a design work with my embroidery machine?

Check your machine manual for supported file formats, file versions, design limits, and usable embroidery area. Match those requirements to the product listing. If you are unsure, send us the design link and exact machine model before ordering.

How do I choose the right hoop size?

Compare the design’s actual width and height with your machine’s usable embroidery area. Hoop names are not always the same as the area you can stitch. Choose a supplied size that fits without exceeding either dimension.

Downloads and file use

How do I download my purchased designs?

After completing your order, sign in with the account used for the purchase and check My Account and Downloads for available files. Follow any download instructions on the order confirmation. Contact support with your order number if the files are missing.

Do I need an account?

Membership requires an account because your plan, allowance, and claimed designs are linked to it. For an individual purchase, follow the options shown at checkout. Using an account also helps you keep track of orders and available downloads.

What should I do if my confirmation email does not arrive?

Check your spam or junk folder and confirm the email address used at checkout. Also check your account for the order and available downloads. If you still need help, contact support with the purchase date, order number if available, and checkout email.

How do I use a ZIP download?

If the download is a ZIP archive, extract it on your computer first. Select the embroidery format supported by your machine, then transfer that file using your machine’s approved method. Check any included instructions before stitching.

Can I download a design again?

Previously claimed membership designs appear in your account or download history. The membership page states that re-downloading an already claimed design does not use another daily allowance. Access remains subject to the membership and download terms; contact support if a file is unavailable.

Can I resize an embroidery design?

Use a supplied size whenever possible. Resizing a stitch file can change density, coverage, and small details. If you need a size that is not included, ask us whether the design needs editing or redigitizing before stitching it.

Can I change the thread colors?

You can often choose different thread colors while keeping the intended color sequence, but the result depends on the design. Check any supplied color information. Some file formats do not preserve exact thread-brand colors, so review the sequence before sewing.

Do I need embroidery software?

Many machines can read a supported embroidery file without digitizing software, once it is transferred correctly. A computer may still be needed to extract archives or manage files. Editing, combining, or substantially resizing designs may require suitable embroidery software.

Membership Plan

How much do the memberships cost?

Starter is $10 USD per month for up to 5 eligible designs per day. Pro is $15 USD per month for up to 10. Studio is $20 USD per month for up to 20. Check the membership page and checkout for the current plan details and total.

Are all designs included in the membership?

No. Membership applies to products marked as eligible. Certain products, bundles, services, and custom projects may be excluded. Check each product before claiming it and review the membership page for the current terms.

Does each format or size count as a separate download?

No. Claiming one eligible product counts as one design download, including the formats and sizes supplied in that product’s package. Separately listed products count as separate designs.

Do unused daily downloads roll over?

No. Your allowance resets each day to the limit for your plan. For example, a Pro member who claims 4 designs today starts the next allowance period with 10, not 16. Unused daily downloads are not carried forward.

What happens when I reach my daily limit?

You must wait until the next daily reset before claiming more membership designs. You can still browse and access previously claimed files according to the download terms. If you often need a higher allowance, review the available plan upgrades.

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. You can cancel future recurring renewals. Your benefits follow the active paid subscription period and membership terms. Cancelling renewal is different from requesting a refund for a payment already made.

What happens to my claimed designs after cancellation?

Previously claimed designs remain associated with your account according to the current membership page. Further access is subject to the membership and download terms. After your paid period ends, you cannot claim new designs using the membership benefit.

Can I upgrade my plan?

The membership page allows moving to a higher plan when you need more daily downloads. Check the upgrade details for any charge and effective date before confirming. Contact support if the upgrade option or billing adjustment is unclear.

Can I share my account or use automated downloads?

No. Membership is for the account holder and may not be shared unless the terms specifically permit it. Automated downloads, scraping, bots, and scripts used to collect files are prohibited. Use the normal website download process.

Is custom embroidery digitizing included in membership?

No. The Design Club covers eligible premade designs. Creating an embroidery file from your own logo, image, or artwork is a separate custom service and requires its own quote.

Custom digitizing

What information should I send for a custom quote?

Send a clear copy of your artwork, the finished width and height, placement, fabric or garment, required format, and deadline. Include your machine model if you do not know the format. Tell us about any small lettering or details that must remain readable.

How much does custom digitizing cost?

Custom work is quoted separately. The artwork, finished size, technique, material, and required changes can affect the scope. Submit your details through Request for Quote so we can confirm the price before you proceed.

How long does custom digitizing take?

Delivery depends on the project and the arrangements confirmed for your order. Include your deadline and mark an urgent request in the quote form if needed. Do not assume the instant-download timing for premade designs applies to custom work.

Can I request revisions to a custom file?

Contact us with your order details, a description of the change, and a clear sew-out photo if the issue appears while stitching. Revision scope, charges, and timing should follow the terms confirmed for the custom order. Artwork changes or a new size may require additional work.

Can I request digitizing for caps, patches, or 3D puff?

Include the item and technique in your quote request. Caps, patches, and raised foam embroidery can need different stitch planning from a flat shirt design. We will need to assess your artwork, size, and intended use before confirming the work.

Will small lettering and fine details embroider exactly like my artwork?

Not always. Thread has a physical width, and fabric movement and final design size affect detail. Very small text, thin gaps, and intricate shapes may need simplification or a larger size. A test sew-out helps you check the result on your chosen material.

Licensing and support

Can I sell items embroidered with a downloaded design?

Check the license supplied with that specific design before using it on products for sale. Permission to download a file does not by itself explain all commercial-use rights. If no clear license is shown, ask us before selling items made with the design.

Can I share or resell the digital embroidery files?

No. The published policy prohibits sharing, uploading, redistributing, exchanging, or reselling the original digital design files. Buying a download or joining a membership does not give you permission to distribute the files to other people.

What is your refund policy for digital designs?

The published policy does not allow normal returns or exchanges after purchase. It lists refunds for an unusable corrupt or damaged file when a working version cannot be supplied, or duplicate charges caused by a system error. It excludes incorrect format selection, change of mind after download, and machine or software compatibility issues. Review the full Refund Policy before buying.

What should I do if a file will not open or stitches poorly?

For purchased design file issues, contact support within 7 days as stated in the refund policy. Send your order details, machine and software model, selected format and size, and a screenshot or clear sew-out photo. Describe the fabric, stabilizer, and problem so the team can assess it.

How do I contact Crest Digitizing?

Use the Contact page for account, download, and product questions. For a custom project, use Request for Quote and attach your artwork. Include an order number for an existing purchase and your machine details for file compatibility or stitching issues.
